Steps to Certification

  1. Determine which sections of the QSI you want to become certified in. Certification is available in three areas: fabrication, finishing and installation.

  2. Complete and submit the application form, along with the application payment of $1500 for AWI members or $2800 for non-members.

  3. Complete and submit the online 150-question, open-book test on the latest edition of the QSI. A score of 130-150 is required to pass.

A printable version of the QCP Certification test is available via email. To request a printable version, please contact Randy Estabrook.

  4. Submit 10 references. Must include a minimum of 2 from general contractors; 2 from design professionals; and 2 from owners.

  5. Pass the plant inspection. Upon completion of the above steps, a QCP representative will visit your plant and conduct an inspection to determine compliance with the QSI.

  6. Pass two (2) project inspections, also conducted by a QCP representative.

Note: The certification process takes about 90 days.

Upon satisfactory completion of the above steps, firms become certified and are eligible to order project labels and/or Certificates of Compliance to certify their project(s). Only certified firms are eligible to order labels and Certificates of Compliance. Project fees are 1/2 percent of the total woodwork contract value, or a minimum of $500.
